Sony Handycam CCD-TR427E:

• The Sony CCD-TR427E is a classic late-1990s/early-2000s PAL Video8 Handycam, designed for recording onto standard 8mm Video8 cassette tapes. It features a 20x optical zoom lens with a 3.6–72mm focal range, 80x digital zoom, Sony SteadyShot image stabilisation and NightShot night-vision functionality. The camcorder uses a 1/6-inch CCD sensor and records PAL colour video with mono audio, while footage can be viewed through the built-in black-and-white electronic viewfinder or played back through its analogue video and audio outputs. It also includes a microphone input, LANC control connection, date/time recording and a range of shooting features typical of Sony Handycams from the period. A 90-minute Video8 cassette can provide up to 90 minutes of recording in SP mode or up to 3 hours in LP mode. The CCD-TR427E has the distinctive solid Sony Handycam design of the era and is particularly suited to capturing the authentic analogue, retro Video8 look associated with vintage camcorder footage
