• The Kodak Vest Pocket Kodak (VPK) is a compact early folding camera introduced by Eastman Kodak in 1912, designed to be small enough to carry in a waistcoat or vest pocket. This is the first-generation model, with the distinctive rectangular front standard and pantograph-style extending mechanism. It uses 127 roll film, producing images approximately 2½ × 1⅝ inches, and has a fixed-focus lens with Kodak's simple numbered aperture settings. The original shutter provides 1/25 and 1/50 sec, plus T and B settings. Known as the “Soldier’s Kodak”, the VPK became one of the most popular small cameras of its era and was carried on notable expeditions, including the 1914 Shackleton expedition and the 1924 Everest expedition. A fascinating early Kodak folding camera, combining an exceptionally compact design with a remarkable place in photographic history.

Condition - Pre-Owned:

• Cosmetic: The shutter can occasionally stick and requires a second press to fire. The other mechanisms appear to function correctly. The bellows are in good condition with no major obvious damage. There is some cosmetic and material wear consistent with the camera’s age and previous use. Please see photos for the overall condition.
• Optical: Some small dust specs in lens consistent with age.
• Tested: Shutter does operate but sticky and needs 2 attempts to reset. Film rewind, back closure, bellows folding etc all fine. No film included or tested/processed with film.
